[371]-377Highly gifted and original both as a writer and a composer, the American Paul Bowles recounts here his nomadic, adventurous life which spans the twentieth century, providing unique insights into the mind and world of a major creative artist. The book is also full of fascinating glimpses of the many other famous writers, musicians and artists whom Paul Bowles has known; these include Gertude Stein, Aaron Copland, Christopher Isherwood, W.H. Auden, Tennessee Williams and William Burroughs. The scene moves from his eccentric upbringing in New York to Paris, Berlin and North Africa in the late 20s, and then back to the ferment of the New York artistic world of the 30s and 40s, where he earned his living writing play and film scores. In 1938 he married Jane Auer who was also to achieve literary fame with her novel, Two Serious Ladies. In 1947 he returned to Morocco (where he lives today) and with his highly acclaimed first novel, The Sheltering Sky, began writing the fiction which is read as avidly today as when it was first publishedBowles PaulΣυγγραφείς, ΑμερικάνοιΑυτοβιογραφίαΞενόγλωσσα βιβλία (Λογοτεχνία)URN:ISBN:024112714957135
